Quinn School’s Stop, Drop and Read Celebration!

On Monday, March 2nd from 2:45-3:00 all of Quinn, students, teachers, and staff stopped what they were doing and spent 15 minutes silently reading to kick off our celebration of Dr. Seuss and the various literacy activities we will be doing this month to highlight the joy of reading.

MARCH MADNESS 2015 @Quinn

Fridays in March are always fun at the Quinn School. Show your school spirit by getting into the MARCH MADNESS!!!

Friday, MARCH 6th – Green & White Day: Students may wear green and white to show their Dartmouth pride.

Friday, MARCH 13th – Hat Day: Students may bring a hat to school (the crazier the better) and wear it throughout the day.

Friday, MARCH 20th – Favorite Character Day: Students may dress up resembling a character from one of their favorite stories.  The students are also welcome to bring in their favorite book that matches their character.

Friday, MARCH 27th- Beach-Hawaiian Day: Students may wear a Hawaiian or beach shirt; maybe sunglasses, and/or a beach hat to make it feel like a day at Round Hill here at Quinn.

When planning for March Madness days, we ask all parents to be aware we do have a school dress code.
“Students should come to school clean, well-groomed and dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.  Any clothing with inappropriate sayings or symbols or which expose the mid-section should not be worn to school. Clothing of this nature can be disruptive to the school environment.  Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times to ensure student safety”

SEPAC NEWS
Spread the Word to End the Word!
3-4-15

Often unwittingly, the r-word is used to denote behavior that is clumsy, hapless and even hopeless. Whether intentional or not, the word conjures up a painful stereotype of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It hurts, even if you don’t mean it that way. Using the r-word doesn’t just hurt people with intellectual disabilities, but it hurts their siblings, parents and friends.

Dartmouth SEPAC has created an online/social media pledge event to raise awareness of the derogatory use of the r-word and its negative effects on people with intellectual disabilities and their loved ones. However, this campaign is more than just raising awareness of the r-word. It's also about changing the attitudes of segregation, ignorance and hate to attitudes of acceptance, inclusion, tolerance and understanding. Please help to focus on a better r-word: RESPECT! www.facebook.com/events/337105679830740/

Please go to www.r-word.org . Make the pledge, and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Share on social media. Use hashtag #IPLEDGERESPECTINDARTMOUTH and #RWORD on your twitter, Facebook or Instagram pages. Let's create a movement of RESPECT. Let's end the use of the R-word

Join us at our next SEPAC meeting, March 5th, 6:30-8:00. We will have tables set up with access to the online pledge.
Mark your calendars for our annual Museum of Kindness and Caring:  Wednesday, April 29th

Dear Families,                  http://dev.bukkit.org/media/images/70/590/rocket-ship.png
Please be on the look out for rocket fuel stickers!  These are given out to students who have been caught showing our school wide expectations of respecting others, ourselves, and property.  These students place a coin in their classroom rocket and get a sticker to remind them to share with you their good news.
