Mix It Up Day
Mix It Up Day is right around the corner- Tuesday, Oct. 28th. This will be our 11th year honoring this national event to break down social barriers and enhance school climate (check out their website at http://www.tolerance.org/mix-it-up/what-is-mix).

On October 28th, children (and staff!) are encouraged to mix up their clothing to celebrate being different and acceptance of all. We will also mix up who students sit with at lunch using a color-coded system. Conversation starters will be placed on the lunch tables to help students meet new friends.  Decorations, music, and a mural are all part of the fun as well.

Pictured above are some fifth grade students practicing their song for Mix It Up Day.

Quinn School is Celebrating Unity Day This Wednesday!

Unity Day is a day when people across America show their care and concern about creating safe and supportive schools and communities who are committed to stopping bullying by wearing the color ORANGE on Unity Day. It's the day everyone can come together—in schools, communities, and online—and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity.

Please wear your orange on Wednesday!

Quinn School students love to READ!!
The students in Mrs. Jenkins' class participate in a variety of literacy lessons.

PBIS School-Wide Kickoff Assembly

Today Quinn school celebrated with an assembly in the gym to kick off our PBIS and Second Step Programs.  The assembly began with a review of what the students were learning in the Second Step lessons and included an overview of our school-wide expectations:  Respect Others, Respect Self, and Respect Property.  Mrs. Oien led us all in the Quinn School Rocket Song and Mrs. McHenry and Mrs. Thomas explained the coin/rocket incentives.  We ended the assembly with a staff volleyball game modeling for students what good sportsmanship looks and sounds like.
